admitted to professional misconduct. Mr. Dutt was employed as a teacher at a secondary school when the
incidences took place. Firstly, Mr. Dutt accompanied a female student to a medical appointment for treatment
of depression with knowledge that the student was concealing the appointment from her parent. Secondly, Mr.
Dutt disregarded his principal’s instructions to sleep in a different hotel room than the female chaperone
during a field trip. In addition, Mr. Dutt behaved inappropriately with one of his Grade 12 students by giving
her a piggyback ride; massaging her feet and lower legs while she had her legs stretched over his lap; applying Vicks
VapoRub to her neck and throat while she was sitting between his legs and again while she was lying on her
bed in the hotel room; and slept with this student on the same bed under a blanket. Thirdly, Mr. Dutt paid
extensive and unsolicited attention to a Grade 12 student by attending at her place of employment; buying her
perfume and lunch; and permitting her to sit on his lap in the student council room while alone. On September
4, 2008, the Preliminary Investigation Sub-Committee approved the Consensual Resolution Agreement under which
Mr. Dutt agreed, that should he, in the future, apply for a new teaching certificate, his application will be
referred to the Fitness Investigation Sub-Committee.
